Catfish responds to the incident at Brombachsee in 2025, when a large catfish was shot repeatedly by local police. What began as a seemingly absurd event quickly became a point of cultural tension, raising questions about how humans confront, and often overreact, to the natural world. The work reflects on the impulse to control what is perceived as threatening, even when that threat is minimal or misunderstood. In the lifeless body of the fish, many saw a symbol of disproportionate force and the ease with which power can be misapplied. Catfish uses this moment to examine the fragile boundary between order and violence, and how a single act against a voiceless creature can reveal deeper anxieties about authority, fear, and the human struggle to coexist with nature
