On the back, a religious figure with a hand-and-eye in place of a head merges symbolism of vision, labor, and revelation. The piece suggests that creative work can serve as a form of personal devotion, offering insight both to the maker and to others. At the same time, GOSPEL acknowledges the contradictions within this role: artists are often marginalized or dismissed, echoing the sacrifice and struggle commonly associated with martyrdom.
